The honey comb inserts and the 4 tabs on top that bolt to the truck is all one piece. So I would have to take it off. Dremal the honey comb section out. Put the mesh on and attach everything back up. FUUN..lol

Well looks like the 09-12 grilles are different than the 13+

Well, there goes my plan of taking the inserts out and swapping them with a different type of insert. Plus, it would make paint them black and the surround orange a "fun" task...

What inserts you want to swap them too. I think all ones on ebay snap over the stock grille.

I was thinking of the new horizontal louvers. Like on the newer Sports. But, painted black of course, to offset the orange surround.

I think if they came on a 09-12 they should swap over. Just need to get the part number.

I sorta doing the same. Painting the mesh and cross bar gloss black. Then the outer shell body color.

You can paint it... but you need to prep surface very well.... painting over plastic chrome tends to peel, chip, or blister.... the key is good surface prep and good primer

Maybe sanding with a really fine grit? What grit sandpaper, and what good primer you think I should use? And then most likely a clear coat afterwards...
