So... of course my brakes and my tires are up for replacing at the same time I have my 50,000 mile servicing which includes a tranny fluid flush so I'm trying to save money where I can.

I searched far and wide for decent brakes at a cheap price. I am doing the brake job myself and I know from prior experience dealerships charge anywhere from $800-1200 for full brake jobs on cars. I've never done a job on a truck and this is my first truck and first brake job on it so I'm sure the dealership prices are outrageous due to the larger rotors and pads than a car.

I found a set of non-brand name "Nakamoto" brakes from 1aauto.com and got the full set of front and rear ceramic pads and front and rear drilled and slotted rotors all for $220 shipped to my door.

The price was so ridiculously low that I researched online all I could and found only positive feedback on their brakes and rotors from various websites so I decided to pull the trigger and give them a shot.

They came in today and the packaging looked great and from what I can tell the product looks great as well. Obviously I won't know until I install them if they are going to perform well, but I will update this page on my experience. Keeping my fingers crossed on these hoping they are a steal and any feedback on anyone that's tried these would be appreciated as well.

Were the rotors out of limits or grooved or something?

Pulsating pretty badly at highway speeds and visually warped. Every time in the past I've ever had my rotors resurfaced I've spent half the cost of new rotors getting it done and the pulsating comes back within a couple of weeks.

Those are some sexy looking rotors, I'm sure you can study up on Youtube before doing the job. Let us know if it changes the way the peddle feels too, mine feels kinda mushy, does yours?

Well I figure Im driving an American truck, with an Italian motor, a German transmission, and Japanese electronics so what difference will it make slapping on some Japanese brakes?

Tires and brakes are some of the replacement parts I never cheap out on. I do however love a good deal.

In for it as well I've run cheap rotors drilled and slotted in the past with no real issues but these trucks are big heavy beasts with tiny brakes that get hot.

Keep an eye on the cross drilled holes and look for cracking. Honestly the best are just the slotted, drilling the holes doesn't really aid in cooling and reduces surface contact area and weakens the rotor. It sure looks cool but a diamond etch would have been a better option with the slots wiping the pad clean.

Were you able to get these installed? I am curious as to how they turned out, I will be up for new brakes and rotors soon.

Rotors are pretty much all the same. I mean some use that Gray high carbon rotors which those do offer benifits. But most are made the same and use the same iron. No reason why these won't be fine.

My drilled and slotted rotors were about $200 for the set and they have been fine going on two years.

Not yet... had a little too much to drink Saturday night so my Sunday was shot. Once I do I'll post pictures and give a review compared to the factory brakes!

Initial thoughts.. it cost me less than $250 to replace all four of my pads and rotors and I have to say I'm extremely satisfied.

The braking feels like it's improved and they feel great with the truck.

The only complaint I have right now is they are making a little squealing at very low speeds. I can only hear it when the windows down, but I am pretty sure it will probably going away after I put 300+ miles on them probably just breaking in period.

I'll keep everyone updated as I'm driving from Connecticut to the outer banks this Sunday with my truck so I can give a good review of these brakes!

Note* the noise I heard is ONLY under light braking at low speeds. Highway and any braking over 10mph is completely normal.
