Looking at installing cab lights on my two-tone red/silver 2500 mega, wanting to see some options because I haven’t seen many red trucks with cab lights.

Debating between smoked lenses with white LEDs purchased from Recon and clear lenses with amber bulbs purchased from the dealership. I like the look of the smoked lenses but not crazy about the bright white LEDs vs the amber LEDs.

Dealer wants $120 for parts and $220 for labor (clear lens, amber lights), in case anyone else is interested.

First pic is my rig, next two are the only pictures I’ve been able to find of red trucks with lights.

If you have some let’s see em!

$220 for labor
is really good price. I did a Youtube video on getting the headliner down. Even though you need to just drop the front of it, considering the dealer has to drill, seal, run electrical, etc., that is an excellent labor rate.

IMHO, go the recon route only if you plan on de-chroming and going color matched or black accents. Otherwise, clear glass, amber lights would look awesome.

Beautiful truck, btw.

Thanks man!

Yes I installed them on my 2006 and from what I remember, I’ll gladly pay that $220

I would love to color match everything, but that two tone is nearly impossible to remove, can’t find a paint shop that’ll touch it with repainting the whole door/door jamb etc., so I’m learning to live with it.

On down the road I want to color match the grille and mirrors red and then get HD bumpers to match the silver, that way I can at least get rid of the chrome. Too many colors going on right now [emoji51]

dunno how it would look, but what about red color-match linex the bumper and rocker panels (well lower part of the doors) and a blackout powder coated grill and get color matched fender flares (Bushwackers, etc)?

I had smoked Recon's on my last truck, they were very dark, they actually looked black when the lights were off. I prefer the clear stock lights, especially with the chrome on your truck. Here's pic the trucks not red, and it's a second gen, but it give you an idea what the smoked recons look like.

You can get smoked recons with amber leds, fyi. I think clear would look better in your truck. And You could always purchase a second set of oem lenses for like $23 and tint em.
