Hello,

I have been looking at tires lately. I will need a new set for inspection next month.

I am not happy the Toyo M/T that was on the truck when i bought it. With regular rotations and constant pressure checks they are bald. Bought the truck a few years back with 25,000 on it and With only 35,000 on the truck now.

I am chalking up the tire wear to the fact that they are a mud tire. (not sure if this assumption is correct.)

So i guess what i am looking for is:

Is there a tire out there that is a cross between the M/T and the A/T. I love the look of the M/T but would like better tire wear.

I am open to all suggestions, there is no brand loyalty here.

Thanks

Also look into duratracs and cooper st maxx. I have had both. The duratracs were my favorite tire to date. I currently have the st maxx and they are wearing extremely well, just a little noisier

The cooper ST Maxx also look good.

The SST Pros are bad ass looking but i am nervous i would run into the same wear issue i had with the Toyo M/T's

I had the toyo r/t's....good tire, just heavy.

Had the toyo m/t's too and they wore pretty well.

I have the STT Pro's now, look awesome, nicely priced and not much noise.

I love my duratracs. The look good, wear good, are quiet, and have awesome traction. I cannot recommend them enough.

Just threw the Nitto Ridge grapplers on my truck.

So far they have been really nice riding and not loud at all.

The Toyos are the best tires on the mark at this point.

What kind of miles are people getting out of the Ridge Grapplers? I got 50k+ out of two sets of Cooper AT3.

Debatable, I just don't like the fact they are so damn heavy. The M/T are 83lbs for a 35x12.50x17 compared to most tires that size are between 65-75lbs.

It's because they're a better quality. I fail to see the negatives with a little bit of a heavier tire.

Fuel mileage, more stress on steering components, extra unsprung weight hinders ride quality and driving dynamics on the street. They are a good tire for 3/4t-1t trucks, a bit overkill on a IFS 1/2 ton truck IMO.

Completely agree.

My toyo m/ts weighed in at 94lbs each.

My stt Pro's weighed in at 77 each.

Toyos are badass just super heavy...and expensive! Lol

Love my Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Great on the road with very little road noise and very good off road. Haven't tested in Snow yet. Rain wasn't a problem either.

Keep the opinions coming! I am starting to narrow down the choices but i am not ready to pull the trigger yet.

But so far I think that i have narrowed down my choice to the Cooper St Maxx.

However, I am still considering the SST Pro. Like i said before the look awesome! and seem to be a bit cheaper that the ST Maxx.

Any one that runs the SST Pro, any incite on what mileage i can expect to get out of them?

Mine are still fairly new so I can't comment on that yet.

Being an m/t though they might not last too long. Really depends on the user.
