Another vote for Cooper ST Maxx here. They're phenomenal tires with just a slight hum at highway speed. My 275/65R20's weigh in 66lbs so I did suffer a slight (1-2MPG) mileage drop. They're an excellent blend of AT+MT and I HIGHLY recommend them. I've got 30K on mine and they still look damn near brand new...

Mine seem to be about 1/2 or more tread at 30k. Pretty darn good

TK02's

I have had a set of BFG TKO2's 34" x 11.5" for about 8 months and they are by far the best tire I have owned. They not only look awesome but they ride fantastic on my Ram 4x4 on and off the road. This isn't a plug. I have had mud and A/T tires. Just buy these and thank me later....

I have been reading a lot about the ST Maxx and thought i had my mind set on those until i came across the Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ P3.

Now i am back to being undecided. Who ever knew picking tires would be so difficult......

I know its a long shot but has any one run both of these tires and have a comparison on them?

Right now i am 50/50 on them, so it may just come down to the price.

Thanks

Any one that runs the SST Pro, any incite on what mileage i can expect to get out of them?[/QUOTE]

I have them in 305/70/18 on my 2500 6.4 hemi and have a little over 18k on them. I would guess they are close to half tread. 2 of the tires are worn to where some of the siping is gone. I'm expecting 35 to 40k on them.

For those that are running the ST Maxx. What are you guys paying? I was quoted about $301 a tire installed and balanced (Before Tax) at a local tire shop.

Is this an accurate quote?

What size are you looking at?

I have a buddy who has the St Maxx on his f150 and has zero complaints. Fairly quiet, tread life has been decent, he thinks he may get 50k with rotations every 5k miles. I also have a friend who has the STT Pro on his GMC. They're loud. They're an MT and ride like it. They're pure mud rippers and if you do any highway driving you'll get tired if them quickly. His words, not mine. His last set were the Toyo MT and he said they road better but again they're MT's so don't expect a quiet smooth ride out of an MT. Most AT's you can reasonable expect a smooth ride.

I've had the BFG KO2 and were up to this point the best tire I've ever owned. Smooth, quiet, great off road but they were on a Nissan Xterra, which may make a difference. I just bought some Ridge Grapplers but have not installed them yet but I bought them off a recommendation of a buddy. He has them on his Ram and likes them a lot. Low road noise for the tread design and believes he will get 60k with regular rotations. That seems high but they should push 50k

Toyo Mts are a quiet tire and ride smooth, best riding and quietest MT I ever ran. Main reason for this is there tread blocks are closer together then most other MT tires.
But they are a very heavy tire and imo thats there down fall if going on a half ton truck.

just my 2 cents

A/T II Extreme from Toyo

I was very happy with the base A/T II's I had on my last truck. Especially for the price.
But they don't sound aggressive enough for what you want.

**** Cepek FC II's are another good option, but they're pricey.

For a heavier duty tire you could also look at the Toyo C/T

I was tempted to put those on my Ram, but I have decided to go with a set of A/T II's again for this truck.

I've got pro comp extreme a/t's and love em. traction is unreal, wear super nice and pretty quiet on the highway, had em for 50,000 km on my 2011 and another 10,000 on my 17, still look really good!

So whats up with the Toyo RTs ? I found them on ebay and they look like a good tire like the Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

Any one run them ?

I have. (Pictured below)

Good looking, quiet tire.

But...heavy and expensive just like the M/T.

Ive been doing quite a bit of research on this since I need new tires soon. I was all set on cooper at3 (had a set on my chevy and liked them). I then found falken at3w, and did some research and people love them, they are supposedly pretty aggresive for an a/t and they are REALLY reasonable. Im pretty set on them.
