Is there any reason why the Dee Zee tailgate assist can't be installed on the passenger side? I just got my 2016 1500 today and it looks like someone drilled out the hole where the nutsert goes on the driver's side. IMG_7961.jpg

It isn't designed too and will not work on the other side.

Did you buy the truck used? Weird that it's drilled out

Yeah, It had a plastic plug in it that was superglued on, and when I pulled that out the final hole was huge.

I would slather in a ton of JB weld and tape around it if you care about it looking pretty. Let it set, then drill the necessary size hole.

Yes, there is NO difference in where you mount the shock. I believe the only reason it's on the drive side as there is no cut out for the tailgate to be removed. There is a little more slop on that side but will not hamper the performance. I had a friend that ordered 2 as he thought he needed two and installed both. They both work fine. Has had them in there for about 6 years now.

Ok I'll try this tomorrow and see if it fits

It does not work only on passenger side. It pulls the tailgate out of the socket like you're trying to take it off.
