You have a steel hood now. Fiberglass is sometimes worse depending on the quality. It shows imperfections easily if not molded right.

Hmm alright. Well I'll post up after I get another quote tomorrow. I'll keep looking around for hoods as well.

Third quote was $986 to fix it.

If I got a new OEM hood it would be $500 then for them to prime and paint it, it came out to a total of $1,426. The guy at the place said the stock part came up as an aluminum hood?

My neighbor said he could do it for $500-$600.

If I got the hood as previously mentioned with the vents in it etc, my concern is not knowing if it's a good quality fiberglass material. If it was good then I could have it shipped to my neighbor and have him prime and paint it. But I really don't know much about fiberglass, I'd have to talk to him about it.

So I'm thinking of just having my neighbor fix it up for the 5-600. Seems like the easiest route, as well as the cheapest, new hood or not. I have some other superficial scratches in the hood as well so I guess it could use the make over.

I will ask him about the pros and cons about that fiberglass hood as he specializes in fiberglass repair. Depending on that I may get that hood and have him prime and paint it at some point.

Then I will at least have a stock hood in normal condition and I can keep it for whenever I sell the truck. I can part out the aftermarket hood separately.

Dropped it off this morning to get fixed up. Should be back on the truck by Thursday night.

I'd totally buy the sport hood if I found one that fit on my 2015 and was already painted my color.

The other ones posted here were all fiberglass and I was advised to stay away from fiberglass hoods.

Does he have a body shop or is this going to be a driveway repair job? Have you seen the results of some of his work? His price is about 1/2 of the other prices---is he that good of a friend or----------?

He's been doing autobody for years from his own shop. I was good friends with one of his sons growing up. He works on a lot of vintage cars and whatnot. I trust him better than any other shop around here. Told him I'd throw in a 30 pack of beer as well haha. He's helped me out a lot on little projects for my old truck.

Got the hood back today. Looks like the dents were never there. Glad this problem has been taken care of.
