I have a 2015 big horn, I'm not huge on chrome at all. Is it easy to swap outer door handles or are those caps I can take off?
Also, has anyone ever painted their chrome bumpers or wrapped them? I live in PA so there's salt, rocks, HUGE pot holes, etc. will either one of those last through a winter?

Youll have to replace the door handles. There is a guy on here that had success getting his chrome bumper vinyl wrapped by a tint shop. Just make sure whoever wraps it offers a warranty.

To replace the two back door handles it's easy but for the two front ones you will have to take the windows down.

Have fun with that :favorites13:

I can't stand the chrome, mainly because I have to wipe them off everyday. Thanks for the pep talk hahahaha :)

If you want you could take the easy way out and plastidip them. Or if you want something more permanent mask off 5' around each handle and spray them with black trim paint. Or you could go onto ebay and buy door handle covers. Scuff them up nice and good. Paint them whatever color you want, clear them and put them on. The nice thing about covers is if your paint job sucks and it starts to wear you can remove them.

I've never plastidipped anything.. I wonder how long they would last. I'll have to look more into getting covers and painting them, you have a good point. If they look like crap I can always take them off. LOL

I plastidipped my wife's door handles about 3 years ago.

Besides dulling a little....the wear is pretty much non-existent.

I'd do it again.

Awesome! That's good to know. I would expect to have to re touch it up, but three years is great! You wouldn't happen to know an easy way to take badges off would you? Haha.

Guess it depends when you were born I grew up with chrome bumpers, handles mirrors etc. I'm glad I don't have to mess with them

Yea I've had plenty of people question why I'm getting rid of the chrome haha. Long story short I grew up in a drag racing family then I got into it and raced and did the whole pin up girl thing with rat rods and I've always loved that. So I guess shiny things are just not my thing haha!

How many cans of dip did this require?

Also, any special prep required?

It took about 1 can per bumper and about 1/2 a can on grill (about 5 coats on each). Only prep was to clean chrome with soap/water, completely dry off, and masking tape off edges. I also let the can of dip sit in warm water between coats, that helps to keep the spray nice and smooth coming out, not clumpy.

I dipped the bumpers and door handles and wheels a year ago. The bumpers and wheels held up great. The rear handles didn't cause I have little kids. I have to touch them up every couple months
