Do you wax or seal?

Up until recently, I didnt know there was a difference. I purchased some sealant and a clay bar kit off amazon and will try it in the next week or 2.

My question is, do you wax or seal your paint and why?

I do both, sealer Is used to seal in your work aka compounds, polishes. Wax is used to protect your sealer.

Exactly what Sohc1997 said, both. I clay bar, correction polish, finish polish, paint seal, and then wax. Then Guard and Gloss at wash time over that.

The sealer will last a lot longer than wax but typically isn't as glossy or shiny. So waxing over top of that with a good carnuba wax will bring the shine back up and help your whole system last longer.

As of this year I do both. I seal with Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant 3.0 and wax with Collinite 845. I also clay bar and polish once a year.

I've been old school wash and wax. I'm going to try this technique and see if it is substantially better. I've already washed one side of the truck( it's freaking huge) and clay bared it. I do have a scuff that needs addressed.

I use the Classe twins once per year. I use a Quick Detailer & spray wax every couple weeks. Clean as a whistle and it really takes minimal effort. What takes effort is when you let it go for months on end. If you buy the right product and use it regularly keeping it up is not that hard nor expensive.

Would you go over your sealant with something like acetone right after applying it? That is what you do when you wax over sealant. sealants are usually low voc and waxes have to be high voc, IE solvent. Wax is great for show cars and if you are going on a trip because it tends to give more protections against things like tree sap, it is a thicker coat. But it will also trap contaminants on your paint over time. So what I like to do is take Zaino all in one cleaner and top it with z2pro or z5pro. I like the klasse twins as well, I get more longevity from the zaino personally and I believe the zaino pro's seam to look deeper. Wait a while between coats. Anyhow, the all in one cleaners seam to leave the surface perfect for sealant, and I have tried most and Zaio and Klasse AIO are the best I've tried.

Right now I'm using HydrO2 from CarPro and once I finish the bottle I'll buy Reload. The stuff is amazing
