Don't they sit lower than the top of the truck. Like eye height, if you can't see a roof that low you shouldn't be driving! lol Just messing with you.
OEM antennae is 1 or 2 inches above your roof line. Hence why using it as a low ceiling detector. If the OEM antennae hits the ceiling, you know it's too low to fit in.
Now, I agree... they look like sh*t on our trucks and I want to replace mine with a smaller one. I had a .50 cal version saved on my Amazon page to buy, but they ran out of stock. Grrr.
