Hey Guys,

Thinking of getting new rims and tires for my firebird which I recently just bought 20x10s with 295/35 20 Nitto Invos and they have 20 miles on them. So I got to thinking how annoying selling rims would be and how much I would loose. And thought... hey maybe they will fit my RAM! My Ram is a 2014 express black out edition crew cab with plastidipped black chrome clads. I always wanted to get 22x9s SRT10 rims but Don't need to I guess. Since the DF5 5 spoke mustang rims are the gloss black its perfect for my ram aesthetically.

Rim specs
20x10 Gloss Black
+40mm offset
7.07" Back spacing
5x114.3 bolt pattern

Tire Specs
295/35r20 Nitto Invos

I know Im getting rid of alot of sidwall and this will effectively lower my ram and increase fender gap which I'm not super stoked about. But If I get some 20-25mm billet adapters to go from 5x114.3 to 5x5.5 will they fit my ram?! I dont know the OEM offsets of the stock 20 rims but if I'm at +40 on the rim and stock is +20 then I could run a 20-25mm adapter and it should be close to the original placement? The other issue is the weight of the truck on a non truck style rim. I don't tow with my truck and I rarely carry a heavy load. Mostly just light stuff from like home depot etc. Since these rims/tires would be just for summer driving I think its possible to work out?

What do you guys think?

those tires are not meant to be on a truck. i dont think they are rated to carry the weight that you would need, if not its cutting it close. chances are your going to end up destroying the tires and wheels. not to mention that small of a tire is going to look funny on a stock truck.

sell them and buy something meant to be on your truck.

Bolt Pattern for the RAMs is 5x139.7.

This was what I was going to point out... the selection for of the shelf wheels for a lowered ram are not that many.... Now there are many that are $300+ a wheel but most are all in the custom drill (bolt pattern) and expensive

Yea I realize the tire size isn't optimal. They are lower profile but If the crew cab is 5500lbs then its only like 1300lbs per rim/tire. The rim offset isn't that bad as a 1" adapter would solve the bolt pattern issue as well as the higher offset. 1" = 25mm, stock is +15mm offset, these rims are +40offset, so 25mm spacer would reduce 40mm offset to 15mm just like OEM. The only issue is that the wheels will be 1" closer to the inside of the truck. Which I dont think is a problem since some stock trucks have 9" wide rims. The vehicle weight might be an issue with these rims but not sure.

I've already pointed out that the 5x5.5 (5x139.7) can be adapted to 5x4.5 with 1" adapters so thats not an issue.

My only issue is the tire size. Tires are still cheaper than new rims and tires.

If you like the rims, get the adapter/spacer and some new tires. Sell those that are on it now to recoup some of the cost for the new tires.

BINGO!!

Im also sure that no one will have these rims. The adapters open up the possibilities of rim combos as almost everyone who gets rims for trucks get specific truck rims which never look like car rims.

the tires have a max weight rating of 1819 lbs each. the front axle base weight of a crew cab is right around 3100lbs. thats 1550lbs per tire and you havent put any people or cargo in the truck yet. not to mention those tires have a very soft sidewall. running them on a truck is a bad idea. buy the right ****.

If I decide to keep them, I plan to buy new tires for them. I already stated they are too thin for this type of application. I'm referring to the rims supporting the weight of the truck vs a car that they are designed for.

same logic applies. the max load rating is usually stamped on the back of the wheel. if not, contact the manufacturer. if you cant find it, dont run it.

True, I will have to check that.

This is my 2 cents. Buy those wheels and tires for however much, then junk the tires and buy a set of new tires($1000). Then buy a set of custom adapters(3 to $400?). So it comes out to around maybe a little over $2,000 with the original wheel purchase all said and done. I would just buy the wheels and tires you want if your going to be spending that kind of money to set them up how you like.

So looking at those numbers I did a quick search and found 4 adapters for $105 that bolt onto the 5x139.7 hub and convert to 5x4.5. Then looking at tires, not going to race the truck or drive it fast/hard (it's a crew cab lol I mean come on). I see them for $190 on tire rack for 285 or 295 in 45 and 50 sidewalls. Then $25 to mount and balance. So for like 1k maybe 1,100 I could have a set of summer tires that look better than the stockers.

I'm not set on doing it, just pushing the idea around and the numbers.

Thats a great price on adapters! Make sure they are hub centric. That sounds like great numbers if you didn't have to factor in the cost of buying the Mustang wheels and tires. Once you add that in then the cost effectiveness of the plan goes out the window IMO. However I'm sure it would look great with those wheels because they make nice Mustang wheels.

The adapters need to be no less than 1.5" to clear your stock studs. At only 1" thick, you will need to cut 1/2" off your stock studs which does not leave you with enough thread to safely mount the lug nuts. I think you are just better off getting correct wheels for the truck.

I don't particularly care for those tires. I have them on my modded 2010 Camaro SS and they're not sticky at all. Brand new they were grippy but after 2000 miles they're terrible.

I understand everyone's concerns. I'm wasn't stating that I was set on doing it. The thought crossed my mind as I'm thinking of new rims and tires on my firebird. After considering all the costs and risks involved it's prob not the best choice. It was an interesting idea tho.

I verified the rims are rated for 690kg or 1521lbs each. Which isn't great for a heavy truck lol.

Seriously the cheapest aftermarket street tire size is 305/40 or 45 /22
And you already stated you wanted srt 22s and this mustang wheel tires combo doesnt seem to be working out...
