I have a 2012 2500 4wd. I've had it for about 2 1/2 months and since day one I have a weird grinding/rattling noise in the front end when turning left or right from a stop position. Doesn't happen all the time just periodically so I can't get it to duplicate for the mechanic. So far they have done both front u joints, passenger side axle, drivers side tie rod and drag link with sleeve, a ball joint ( not sure which side) and still continuing to make the noise. They are paying for parts and labor but I just want it fixed.

Have you looked at the wheel bearings? Any grease fittings that are going dry ?

Ok I will send that once I get my truck back. As of now they are changing a hub and speed sensor to see if that is the problem. Also it's great when you pull up to check on status of your truck and the mechanic is peeling out in the truck 3 different times.

Did you ask him why he is beating on your truck?

I let the service advisor and manager know. They wouldn't let me speak to the mechanic. Picking truck up this afternoon and gonna see what else they have to say or do.

Finally think they found the problem. Rotor was cutting away at the drivers side speed sensor wire. So anytime tire was turn right was causing the abs sound

Noise is still happening. Guess they didn't find the problem.

You got the solid, so I would look at the brake system before anything else. If it is a 2012 and has around 50k you are probably due for a brake job anyhow. I wouldn't trip on that mechanic, you said yourself it is hard to duplicate, I'm sure he was trying to get it to make the sound.

Only when turning though?

I'll mention the brake system today to them. Dropping it back off again. But when the noise happens brakes aren't being applied. It happens from a dead stop turn, like turning onto a side street from a main road. Also has happened a couple times at 20-25 mph down a bumpy curvy road.
