Dee Zee® DZ43300 - Dodge Ram 2002-2013 Tailgate Assist

Installed it yesterday after seeing it on a ram on the show room floor and let me say.. this thing is amazing!!!!

Had one on my last truck and was one of the first things I did to this truck. Wonderful little things. I think they should come from the factory with something like this. That and a locking gas cap.

Installed mine today, it rub the side of the tailgate, and it shifted the entire gate to the right. I like the function, but the fit is horrible.

Never seen those before but seems like a good idea. I take it you're in Vancouver? Did you order from the link provided and if so, how much did shipping and duty add? You're right. I want one.

Mojoe, Are you sure you followed the instructions correctly?

Heres the instruction manual that it came with.

I got mine from the Coquitlam Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership, but im sure they all will in the parts department.

Thanks. Wish I'd thought of that when I bought the truck as I probably could have squeezed that into the deal at the end when negotiations wound down.

Sure did, even went over it a second time. I've installed over 20 of these things on other trucks. My Nissan frontier had the same issues.

Anyone running it, check your tailgate spacing on each side, and look for paint wear by the strut.

You must not have installed it correctly man. there is no way for it to throw your spacing on your tailgate off?
Post a video or some pics maybe someone can help you.

Awesome, gonna pick one up today. Wish I would have known about this before, looks like a great item. My buddy's Titan had the ez assist type tailgate and I always loved that, but never thought about it being just a small gas strut

I talked to dee zee, and they heard about this before. I will post some pics soon, dee zee wants me to send them some as well.

The tailgate is shifted because it is making contact with the strut when it is closed. You can see on the strut and tailgate where the paint is worn to metal. The strap is also making contact.

This is only the second time I've had issues out of these. If someone sees an issue with my install, please point it out.
