I have a chrome front grill and thought about making the inserts black. I saw some for sale that snap on over the built in inserts, but can't imagine that would look tot good and may cut down on air flow.

I have seen some guys plasti-dip theirs, but I can imagine it would be tough to remove from the honeycomb if you didn't like it.

Any suggestions and photos are welcome.

It would be a nightmare to remove it from the honeycomb.

I'm curious about swapping grilles also or just paint the factory chrome. However I'm wondering how to get the solid mesh grille, mine has the grill shutters so would they still be functional?

just dip them, they sell whats called "dip dissolve" and you can literally spray it on and watch the dip start to melt and then spray it off

Looks sweet! I just want to color the inserts and leave the border and crosshairs chrome. I haven't looked yet to see if they separate. Just assumed it was all one piece

It separates and it's not too bad. I separated mine and sprayed the inserts black.

I blacked my inserts out, but want to go to a powder coated open mesh so you can see inside the front end opening.
