I've tried about every search combo to collect info on the factory 17" rim set ups and it doesn't seem very common. I have a '14 5.7 8sp w 3.21, with plans to tow 7k loaded TT next year. Currently stock w "raised ride height" and 2" spacer with sad 265/70/17 tires.

Currently found an awesome deal on bfg k2 315/70/17 tires.

Any thoughts? Looks like a 34.4" tire, not sure about the width of these stock 17 rims and whether they can handle a 315 tire or if the truck will hate that height with the gears.

I dropped from 20s to 17s and put on 315/70/17 Duratracs. But I also went with new wheels that are 0 offset and a 2" level up front. I had them on my 14 with the 5.7, 8 speed and 3.21 gears and never had a problem. I just traded and swapped everything over to my 17. The tires would probably rub with the stock wheels. You would need spacers to move the wheels out so the tire would clear the UCA.

With tires that big, and only 3.21 gears, I would be concerned about towing a camper.

I think I have read that with a 12.5 " tire you need like a 1/4" spacer with stock wheels, I think those 315s are 12" or just under so its going to be close on clearing but I think it should .
With the 8sp you will be fine pulling a camper but it would be better of course with 3:92s.
It's one of those things if your pulling real heavy all the time you might think about going that big but a few times a year I would not worry about it.

I've been trying to find out this very thing myself. The stock rim is about 7.5 inches which I was told is a little too narrow for that size of tire.
I am going to go with a +10 offset wheel which I hope will keep me from rubbing anything.

Thanks for the info. I assumed the stock rims would be 8 or 9" wide. they are surprisingly narrow. Think I'll hold off and find some 285s to play it safe all around. Thanks for the help!
