2013 ram.
Cv axle and stub shaft worn.
The axle is off long ago and started at the stub shaft.
Used a 10lbs shackle as a sliding hammer on pipe. No go. Am I missing something.?
Napa gave the the stub to go in it but the diagrams I find show a fairly long one compared to the one I have.
The new one only has a ring sort of like a cv axle. It should just pop out shouldn't it?
It has a little more end play movement then when i started but still not much so I thing I may have either f&cked something or it's just seized that bad it's not coming out.

Anybody? Chrysler is saying there isn't anything serviceable in the whole front diff. Weird that napa would sell me the part if it's not replaceable. Here is the diagram Chrysler just sent me.

The stub that napa sent me looks like the drivers side only.
Thing is I seen the same parts on carid that states the left and right are the same parts.

I'm going to put the axle back on and call it a day. If the front end isn't damaged then if I'm lucky I'll hopefully get the winter out of it anyways. I'd say I have a inner bearing damaged along the line if it's the way I believe it is.
I'm not sure who decides who to go about the designs but to have a whole front end with little to no replaceable parts is rediculous.
I'm sure if you had the thing on a bench it would be able to be taken apart though
Anybody with any input to write on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Wtf! Trucks 4 yo, and already a cv axel went bad, Once you get the hub off it should pull right out, wait a second, why are you doing this yourself? Is it out of warranty already? What happened to the 7/100k bumper bumper warranty?

I already have the axle off. That's not the problem. It's the stub shaft. It is worn a bit. Never measured it but it's difinitely worn out of spec. So I tried pulling it. No go lol.

Then you need to pop off diff cover and take clip off half shaft to get it then.
I forgot about that clip in the diff holding it.

If I remember correctly the rack for the steering is right in front of that. I'm going to try the new axle with a new snap ring. Wack the grease/ anti seize to it and if it's not to sloppy I'll leave it and hope for the best until later on this year. If I haul that apart Chances are I'll need bearings and seals and you can't get them at the dealer or napa.

After looking at the drawing it looks to me that the whole side casing for the 4wd would come off then release that snap ring and haul the intermediate shaft through it to the left.

New axle is in on the old stub/ intermediate shaft. Bought a new circlip for the stub. What a pain to get on.
Anyways the new axle is sloppier then the old. I guess the rust was kind of taking up the clearances inside.
Guess I'll have to order my parts. Any ideas where to get them?

I have found numerous sites saying this is the right side stub shaft I need. It is he one I have. But the diagram above obviously shows otherwise.

Are you talking about the passenger side? If so I also had this issue and after 2 different dealers determined that only the driver side is serviceable in the 13+ rams my whole front axle was replaced under warranty. I only had 61000klm on my 13

Yes the passenger side. The part I put a picture up of is what napa told me was the right one. After looking on websites some also say the same thing. But it's completely different. I have to buy the whole assembly. Even used parts only sell the whole unit. Seems like a good idea for the manufacturer but for the consumer like me or you were left to buy a whole bunch of parts we don't need for just that small part.

Yes I know. what I'm saying is napa and also other major auto part company's claim the two are the same.
If you go on carid it's there as well. Lists this exact part saying front left and right.
im just writing this for future people who google this issue. Hopefully nobody makes the same mistake as me.

Thank you. You just saved me a huge headache. Seriously... thank you.

I went to change my driverside cv axle on my 2016, outer joint let go. As i'm pushing and pulling, i pulled the cv out of the inner joint. I start hitting and prying, and started to pop the stub shaft out. ‍♂️♂️. I stopped to re-assess, as i never had this problem on any of my older vehicles. Looks like i'm ordering a new stub shaft and diff fluid, and swap it all out and slap in a new stub shaft with the new axle.
