I think I messed up and didn't know the 4x4 sat higher than the 2 wheel drive

Does the 4x4 really sit that much higher? I had a neighbor park his stock 4x4 next to mine and it was maybe a tiny bit higher in the back.

I put steps on my 1500 4x2 which is also tall for a 2WD. My 94 year old mother can climb in.

I like the Mopar side tubes on my trucks because they will give you something to step on when getting in, and they dress up the side of the truck, and look great. Here are my past three trucks with them. :happy107:

How did you mount the mud flaps with the OEM sidesteps? I really want mudguards but the dealer told me they don't fit

Were you guys steps installed at the factory or dealership, maybe the dealer put aftermarket on?
There are several step option from factory. Mine are MOPAR 82211702AD Black Aluminum Running Boards, which are an option for crew short box Laramie. I installed them myself. They have three attachment points per side.

If you have the short bed DO NOT get OEM steps, ALL short bed models (even crew) have only two mounting brackets. Much better alternatives out there, even some models that attach to the frame.
Lots of after market bars use two mounting brackets. The AMP using two mount points are rated for 600lbs.
