So, about a month ago I hit a deer. Absolute slaughter. Poor guy, didn't stand a chance against the Hemi 3.92. Lucky for me, the truck damage wasnt too bad, I went through my insurance, got a cash out, and decided to put a custom bumper on.
I did a ton of research that consisted of looking at photos, YouTube videos and other forum reviews regardless of the truck. It was all about the bumper. The only one I liked, out of all the bumpers available, was the "defender 4" by Iron Bull Bumpers. I did not like the looks of anything from road armor (friend has one), iron cross, ADD (provides minimum protection), etc., just to name a few. There is a ton of bumpers to choose from.
Now, Iron Bull Bumpers are all hand made and take about 3-4 weeks to make. I got my bumper in 5 weeks because I had to wait for delivery. Makes sense, no problem, these guys don't use FedEx, they actually pull up to your house in a truck and loaded trailer and hand deliver it to you. The delivery guy was very polite and professional. Put it in my garage (all 150lbs of it) without issue.
My only real complaint is that Iron bull's website resembles that of a late 90's design that a 56k modem could load. Not many pictures and very few videos. YouTube only had a few videos. A couple install videos (one on a power wagon) and another video of someone hitting the "black shield" coating with a hammer to demonstrate durability. But that is it. I liked the look of a 4th gen Ram with the Defender 4 I found that another forum member posted and that had me hooked.
I asked around at a few truck off road shops. Places that specialize in lifts, tires, etc. out of everywhere I called, the average price to have someone "professionally" install was $350-400. I thought that was outrageous.
Now, I am NOT mechanically knowledgable. I know just enough Everyman should know. I do my own fluids, filters and I can change a tire. That's it. I did not want to pay $400 for someone to install. I figured, I will give it a shot. Well, I was 100% successful. Anyone can do it. The bumper fit right off the bat. No adjustments or tweeking needed. On first bolt up, it was 100% level. See photos.
In closing. I recommend this product. Fit and finish are flawless. Install took me about 5 hours ( with no experience). Looks sturdy and everything is symmetrical. I am very pleased with the overall experience. I would do it again without a second thought. This is the only bumper I thought looked good and I am glad everything worked out well for me.
Enjoy the photos. Any questions, please ask. I will do my best to answer.
