Has anyone just used LED kits for stock projectors instead of going all the way to HID? I know many say HID kits are pretty much plug and play, but I was really looking into just LED for the stock projectors. Most posts I have searched are just HID upgrades. Any thoughts thanks!!!

I got it done on mine and I love it. But all I know is that if you do get it installed it probably will need a decoder. Because on my 2015 ram 1500 the headlights would turn off in 5 mins and not come back on.

Unfortunately 2015 rams and up had changes which made the canbus more finicky per say. 2013 probably doesn't need a decoder

On aside note how does the led light output work in a projector. Does it work well with the cutoff?

Yea works pretty well also it doesn't have that build up time period when a hid turns on. It's instant and I would even probably say even brighter. And since it's led you will probably get a longer life out of the bulbs then hids

Hey what led bulb did you use in your stock projectors. I'm curious because everyone keeps telling me that LED Bulbs won't fit inside the 13+ OEM Projector housings.

I'm selling my current headlights, custom built retrofit quads from retroshop, and I plan on buying black 13+ projectors but I really want led bulbs in them. So if you found a set that works, please share what brand they are and where you bought them.

Thanks!!!

I personally didn't install them I went to this car audio and accessories shop I've gone to for years and if it didn't fit they for sure would have told me. Only complication was they didn't think it needed a decoder. But next day they installed it no issues since then

Decode/Capacitor, same thing (I'm pretty sure).

Anyways, next time you at that shop or whatever can you please ask them what brand and model led bulb it is? Thanks.

you will need the style that has the mesh ribbon heat sinks instead of the big fan also you may need to drill a hole in the bulb end cap to get the wire out but you just use some rtv to seal around the wire but its all in all an easy job

There is a thread on the other forum where a member installed Philips Luxeon LED 9012 bulbs in his projectors. Detailed write up. Perform a search and you'll find it.
