I see that a lot of people have debadged their rams by using fishing line does it matter what kind of line? like braided, monofilament, big game (thicker line), fluorocarbon, etc..
Please advise

Not really, just get a heavy test line, even 12lb can break pretty easy. get some 3M adhesive remover, I liked it. I did rear and two doors in about 35-40 minutes. The wax area underneath badges.

Just saw it back and forth slowly, they come right off. Just NOT the Ram head in the center of the tailgate. It will leave an indention.

You might consider investing in one of those 3M rubber adhesive remover wheels that you put right on a drill. Makes getting all of that left over adhesive a piece of cake. Then just wipe the dust away and polish with some detailer. But the liquid removers will work fine as well. Just a little messier.

I tried floss once and it kept tearing. lol.

20 - 30lb line works OK with no breakage.

Try some 3M adhesive remover (orange and white spray can) in a well ventilated area on the badge first. Just spray it on top so it soaks into the double sided sticky tape that's used to stick the badge on the truck. Let it sit for 5 minutes or so, then slip in the nylon where the tape meets the body panel. Use a short sawing action while pulling the line from one side of the badge to the other.

Also, a heat gun or hair dryer (be careful - don't hold it against the paint and don't leave it in one spot too long) will help with softening the adhesive too.

The 3M adhesive remover will definitely help remove the residue left behind after the badge is removed.

If you don't have 3M adhesive remover, wd40 is fine but you need to wash and wax your rig.

All the ram tailgate emblems have guide pins. If you take it off there will be an indention around the badge and two holes for the pins to line up

No sir. Just the Ram badge. The big horn, Laramie, longhorn, 4x4, etc badges are all just double sided tape.

So the Outdoorsman badge is only tape as well ?

I am leaving the Ram head badge, but would like that to be the only one on the tailgate , but do not want to remove if I have holes or indentations to deal with

Nothing underneath the Big Horn or 4x4 badges on my '13. Some of my badges came right off without much work, I think dust had gotten underneath the adhesive and loosened them up. The others required some work, I just used a heavy dose of goo gone and slowly worked it off with my thumbs. I tried the fishing line trick on a previous vehicle and it left some nasty marks that were easily visible in the sunlight so I'll never do that again. Lots of people have had success with that method though so I must have done something wrong, not brave enough to try it again.

I used fishing line to pop the badge off. Peeled off what I could of the tape (about 90%) and used 3m adhesive remover from a rattle can. Worked like a charm. Took all these off and got it cleaned up within an hour. It was also my first time doing it. It sounds harder than it actually is. Once you get started its easy peasy41f8a33d5b773b07d4d337ad7c9874a2.jpg

Or the OP can do what I did, buy an Express with the Black Express option and all the badges are already gone. :favorites13:

I used fluorocarbon. It was the first time i had ever done it and it game out good, took me about an hour and a half because the adhesive underneath is a PITA so remove, but i just used goo-gone and it worked fine. Another trick is pull up and away slowly on the adhesive, it comes off easier

Yeah man, those Longhorns have many badges!

It's a smooth look for sure when completed.
