My Ram is almost as old as I am lol and the one thing that I can not stand is the " B " pillar tape. Now sadly since my vehicle is over 7 years old, this stuff is melted on there. I'm looking for suggestions as to what to do to fix this. Went to one place and they told me they would sand it down and then paint that area all black. Another place said they could use the factory appliqué and apply it. But no guarantee that it wouldn't look bubbled in areas. Anyone have their area look as bad as mine ?d8a4dea96c27a1a0d8d71bcec62deeef.jpg

It's a workout, but you could heat it up a little, peel off what you can. Then use Goo-Gone or WD40 and lots of elbow grease to clean it off. Then leave it body color, paint or plasti-dip.

Actually that's a good idea, let me go on Amazon and see if there's a heat gun that I can grab via Prime..

Shoot lol, just ordered a Porter Cable one for $23.00 off of Prime. That's ok as it comes from my business account anyway. Thanks for that piece of advice.

On my 06 300C, they were covers that I was able to remove and paint black instead of chrome. Make sure you use a ton of clear if you paint/dip them black, so they blend with the windows are (if you want), not sure how that would look on the truck, but looked awesome on the 300C, like more of a giant, seamless window look from afar.

Without reading any other post in this thread... I took them off of my wife's 2012 Compass... not only did the vehicle look better you could easily see the durability difference.

BUT it was a PITA to get them off.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a B pillar tape?

It's what the factory wraps your " B " pillar with to separate the front/rear window look. It's usually black and supposedly according to my service department, it's easier to take off when you first get the vehicle as opposed to when I am trying to do it. If you look at my photo, it's the area right behind my white mirror that looks like someone scratched the paint off of my truck.

Peel it off. Clean the goo off and leave it as is.

I have had the same annoying issue & coincidentally planned to tackle it this weekend. Yesterday I peeled the vinyl off.

Looks like this now. I left a little goo at the top to take care of today, ran out of time yesterday.

Used Goo Gone, a soapy bucket(as it states in the directions), & some elbow grease. Surprisingly worked much better than I imagined. For $4 a bottle, you can't go wrong.

Here's what my passenger side looks like. My drivers was much worse.

My truck is an '09. If you look at my info in my profile, it's literally as old as I am. I have no idea how to the change the age lol.

I kinda like the look with no vinyl better than I thought I would but I bought some vinyl from eBay & planned to try my hand at wrapping today. If I suck, oh well, I'll just peel it back off. Wish me luck.

Looks great! If I take mine off, I guess it will look
similar? What's the point of having them to cover the paint?

I think it's purely cosmetic. You'll notice wrapped pillars on a lot of vehicles if you start to look for it. I'm guessing the manufacturer thinks it makes it look sleeker, like the two windows are one. I'm kinda digging the naked look but I really wanna teach myself how to wrap, like Lil Wayne.

Wrapping flat or semi curvy areas isn't too bad....it's when you get to the small or really round areas that can get stressful. I did my radio bezel a while back and it was a PITA lol

I went out and looked at my truck and I don't have them. Mine are part of the body.

I took mine off as well. Looks ten times better without it. I used the heat gun method. It I didn't leave any glue residue.
When you do it put down the window and peel out the window gasket, start on the inside and work outward. It was a pain in the ass and my fingers were sore as hell but well worth it.
