From what I know the tailgate emblem is one piece.

The tailgate emblem does not come apart. A guy going by the name AustinB had a diy on coloring these badges and I tried it very happy with the result. We used that clear bar too resin people use to our over baseball cards and bottle caps to make a cool bar top. Used acrylic paint to color match to your desired color and very carefully pour it in the emblem when on a flat surface. Let it set up 48 hrs covered to protect from dust and voila!!!! Did my steering wheel emblem grill and tailgate emblem. The grill emblem since it comes apart needs to be sealed (I used silicone) then when dry pour away! I'll try to find the thread. Change the background color of your Ram badge.
