If you also run curt T harness, which I did, you can hide the plug in your hitch. And have a new place to tap accessory lighting without touching factory wiring.

Looks cool. I had the same thing. After a year it looked like crap. Kinda like an old headlight lens that gets cloudy. Still lit up at night but the cheap plastic fails fast. Hopefully yours doesn't.
