I put 4 coats of clear on mine, i always wet sand the orange peel out with 3000 grit followed by a compound polish and then again with a finishing polish.. gives them a deep gloss look.

Looks good! I did smoked tint on my third brake light to match the slightly smoked oem Sport tails, came out better than I thought! Was going to go with the darker but then decided to keep it more oem.

Looks great. Last set I did I put on 5-6 coats of clear and wet sanded, then polished. They looked amazing! Can't wait to see the finished product!!

Sorry to drudge up an old thread, but how is the VHT holding up? I've read rumors of fading, even with clear coat.

I want to put a light smoke on my headlights and tails.

What's the general consensus, one coat for a light smoke?

Last question I swear, what brand clear coat? Just a rattle can?

What are you guys using to polish the clear coat? Just a microfiber and your hands? Or are you using a product? Are you using a buffer? What's the best way to polish the clear after wetsanding?

No. they holding up good though. A lot of people do them with regular clear mixed with black. Then put clear over that and rub them out. I would like too. Just so they look deep and shine like the paint does.
