Is this possible to do? I want a set of black wheels but simply can not afford to buy new wheels. A friend said I can not paint the chrome clad wheels.

Plasti dip is great if you are looking for a flat non smooth finish. You can add the glossifier but it's still not a smooth finish, but I will say that plasti Dip holds up a lot better than paint and clear.

Just hold off and focus on another project. DIY stock wheels always look cheap.

Dip it. It's easy and if you don't like you peel it off and your wheels look fine. Paint is a nightmare. You have to scuff up the wheels, prime, paint, and clear. It's also tends to chip and peel if you don't do it right.

I dipped the wheels to my mustang. It's been 6 months and they still look good.

Highly doubt I'll find someone looking to trade.

Plasti-Dip is the way to go.

I dipped my clad wheels in late Oct. and couldn't be happier. Proper prep work and time to allow coats to dry is the key.
