painting the "frame" of my grill

I don't want to paint the inserts just the main chrome frame part the same color as my truck, has any one done this ? the guy down at the local body shop said its hard to get paint to stick to that chrome

its just a painted plastic. All they have to do is sand blast with light abrasive and prime and paint. Not that big of a deal. Its just like painting any plastic pieces. I painted my chrome piece and has no issues, but Im going to do the matching color of my truck.

that's what I told him... if I took some sandpaper that stuff should just scratch off
