Hello, i am brand new to this forum, also my first post so ill just get right into things. i've read previous posts on this forum about putting a plow on a 1500 seriers 4th gen and at that time their trucks were brand new and mostly everyones point was "oh that will void your warranty" or " you shouldn't use a plow on a 1500 series ram it doesnt have a plow prep package ". Well i plan on using a BOSS 7' straight blade and when not in use it the blade will be off the truck, i am not worried about the suspension or transmission AND my truck is out of warranty. SOOOO, i currently have a 2.5" leveling kit coming, could i get away with my 17" snow tires or would it still be too low in the front. I do have a set of 20's for my summers im just trying to save my self $1500 on new 20's, because when i bought the truck 2 years agao i bought brand new good year duratracs on factory steel wheels, it would be a shame if i have to sell them. If anyone has any input that would be great!

Thanks

Happy Hollidays

You don't have 17 inch snow tires right? I don't think your Rim size wont be a big deal, but you will want big tires I would assume 33 plus. How heavy is the snow plow?

You can put a plow on anything, the old forum I posted at they had tons of them on F150's. Just put a light one on if you can find one,

The plow weights lets say app 400lbs. Burla i do have 17" winter tires on right now, 265/70/17 LT and 275/65/20 for my allseasons.

Yea my biggest worry is to get the receiver off the ground as much as possible LOL

You are missing rim size versus tire size, that sounds like a 30 inch tire, but whatever as you can see you can hang a plow on anything, especially if you need to.

Warranty or not.....the owners manual says not to do it.

Sometimes, you have no choice if your road isn't maintained by the city. Can't shovel all the way to the road.

You'll be fine. I have a friend that actually uses his 1500 to plow commercially.
He also switches to 17" wheels. You may want to put a little weight in the ass. Let the truck push the plow.

Thanks mate! Yea i am either going to put bags of salt or sand in the back! Where i live most people use their truck as a dailey commuter, so i am very interested to see what this truck can do with a plow. Ill make a vid when i isntall the leveling kit in

Just make sure you are using a 1500 specific plow. We're I live highway enforcement always crack down on people running big blades on small trucks but companies do make ones just for half tons. Other then that when plowing remember it's only a 1500 so treat it like that and and be easy on it. Should have no problems
