IMHO, the way the factory puts these on, without first separating the plastic push-screw fasteners makes the dog-legs sit loose allowing sand/grit in between them and the paint. In time these push-screws tend to break or just snap off from wear and tear. So, today I pulled both rear dog-legs off the bed fenders, cleaning them and the fenders up in the process, and changed how they're mounted. Total parts cost was less than $4.
Dog-leg trim.
FCA/Chrysler/Ram calls them something else but anyone who's done body/trim work calls them that.
Cracked and worn-out push-screw.
Push-screw separated, you put the push-screw base back on, this time UNDERNEATH the dog-legs.
Then put the dog-legs back on over them, using the stainless self-tapping screws and finishing washers to hold things together.

(Sorry, just can't seem to get these to come into good focus.)
Finished installing, well, except the worm guts need to be cleaned off still.
Ace Hardware (Hillman Fasteners) Parts/Numbers I used.
