Hey guys, so when my truck gets out of the shop after getting a boo boo at the gas station, I'm planning on finally getting the tints done. I'm planning on taking it down to 10% on the side windows and 50% on the windshield.

Now for the question, should I keep the stock tint darkness on the back window as well or take that down to match the sides as well? Will it look ******** if I don't match it to the sides?

Thanks guys.

The back is privacy glass, so its in the glass. You cant remove it. Add a light % to rear, then have them match front doors with rear.

You are doing the whole windshield to 50% or the strip at the top?

I say match the back to the sides.

That's the plan, to have them darken the rears to a 10% equivalent, then do the full 10% on the fronts.

That's awesome. I didn't know that. So adding 5% would make it super dark?

I did 20 all around (which is the same as the back) and a 5% brow.

As you can see, it is pretty dark.

50% on the shield is the way to go! Eliminates most glare and is pretty reflective on cloudy days. Love it.

I put 20% over my rear windows which are roughly 20%.
Which brought it down to roughly 5%

What would I have to add to get the back to 10% tint level?

Jokers here in Houston wouldn't even sell me anything less than 35% without a waiver. State law says 25% for Front L/R windows in Texas so that's what I wanted but they told me a plain window plus 35% equals 25%. That I don't get. I had enough of failing inspections on my Dakota over the years so I told them to just do the 35% as it was only $65. When I left I noticed they wedged a manuf decal under the tint down by the corner, ***.

The stock privacy glass is 20% or slightly higher. I had a layer of 30% put over the back three to make it roughly 15%. They put 20% on the front two which are lighter than the rear so I will be going back to have 15% on the front two. Hope this helps.

Theoretically, adding 50% to the rear three would bring it down to 10%. But as I have 50% on my windshield, I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make putting it over the rear 20%. It's not very dark at all.

That's why I went wiTh 30% over the rear three, took it to roughly 15% and is perfect for what I need

Did you have it metered after? factory is 18-20, so 30% would theoretically bring it down to 6-7%. I was thinking of doing 75% over the rear to bring down to about 14-15% and add heat reduction characteristics of my carbon xp tint.

I have not had it metered. You're right, hypothetically it should be around 6-7. But to my naked eye it doesn't look close to me.
