Hi,

I'm looking install Rough Country's 2.5" leveling kit on my 2017 Ram 1500 4x4 Sport. I wanted to get opinions on recommended tire sizes so it wouldn't look stuffed. What are your thoughts?

I was going to stick with the stock 20" wheels and purchase 275/65/20, 295/60/20, 285/65/20, 315/60/20 (may be too big) tires. I don't think I'll have any rubbing issues.

It's my daily driver so I don't want to go too big.

I'm open to recommendations...

Thanks...:)

I'm extremely happy with 275-65-20's on my levelled truck. I like the subtle "it almost appears stock but it isn't" look. I feel like this is how these trucks should look from the factory if it wasn't for all the red tape. Might have gone 285-65, but the price goes way up when you step up to that size. That said, love my 275-65 Cooper AT3's.

275/65/20 on stock wheels with a 2in. I'll be getting 35's for my next set. Want it more stuffed

34's have been more popular then ever. Traditionally it was always 33's or 35's, but I have seen 34's gain a lot of popularity on Ram Forum. You can make the tire look beefier just by going down in rim size, 18's with 34's a real nice look.

My next set is going to be the 285/65-20's (roughly 34"-34.5"). I think it's just enough to look bigger, but it doesn't appear to be "stuffed" into the wheel well.

I would recommend Bilstein 5100 adjustable front struts rather than the 2.5" Rough Country spacers. It's a far better setup for leveling, will give you a better ride quality, and cost less in the long run.

For tires a 295/60/20 is a great choice to run on stock wheels and not look to stuffed.

Personally I wouldn't put 35's under something that isn't sporting at least a 4" lift just because they rub under articulation. Also to anyone thinking about rancho quicklift struts I would advise against. I had them and they sure are junk.

I guess I should have been more specific about tire width and wheel offset coming into play. I have seen my buddy's with to much tire scrub the bumper or wheel well just coming out of driveways.

Yeah Iam sure wheel offset has alot to do with it. Alot of guys like alot of offset when it comes to aftermarket wheels.

Maybe this is a dumb question....but going any other size besides factory will obviously alter the rear ratio, thus the odometer. Even with a 3.92gear, you can easily multiply that with different ratios. I'm wondering if people are considering that, and if so, doing anything to the computer to adjust the odometer? There use to be a website (back on the Dakota RT days) that compared tires and ratio offsets....not sure if thats around.

If I was going 2.8 lift on sport 4x4, 20" rims, I'm thinking stock size for simplicity sake. I was doing a comparision chart in another thread on this very subject. Tryign to get the "best budget" tire I can at a good price, that will give me good wet performance and last....and not be so damn heavy.

Most programmers have provisions for tire size calibrations.
