I took those big heavy ballasts off my frame to paint. I don't like the color of rust. Oh boy! these things are heavy!

Is anyone running their truck without these? if so any major side effects?

I did a quick google search and found claims that these function as vibration/resonance dampers, and they did in fact notice more vibrations at cruising speeds when removed.

I wouldn't drive without them.

Ya know the drag racer in me sees them as useless weight, but....these are pretty complicated machines, so I totally would anticipate in factory trim, with mds, and other driveline resonance I could totally imagine they are purposeful.

I removed mine as well as the two disc shaped ones that are on the rearmost bolts that holds the cabin to the frame. No difference noticeable.

That little bit of weight will not make any noticeable difference
