Short post but does anybody know how to remove this black piece under the front bumper? I want to take it off so the front bumper looks higher

There should be a couple bolts coming in from the top, and then a bunch of press in clips that are a pain to pop loose

Are all the pins and bolts on the inside or underneath?

If I remember correctly they are inside the bumper. Can get to them from underneath

The lower valence is held on by those clips a few posts up. Get under the truck and stick your head to where you can see the inside of the bumper and look down at the bottom. You will see a bunch of those holding the two pieces together. I took mine off immediately and looks way better imo, takes about 5 mins

I got it off yesterday in about 5 minutes in my girlfriends gravel driveway. Hurt but was definitely worth it.

Just curious, what's the purpose of the lower valence and what will it effect if removed?

My best answer is to give a little more protection to your undercarraige from rocks and other things. It doesn't affect anything if you take it off

My understanding is it is for fuel efficiency, not sure how much it affects a mobile brick.

Yea I think it's to redirect air flow to reduce any negative air pressure for fuel efficiency, and redirect air for engine cooling. I didn't notice anything different after removing from my Sierra so went ahead and did it on the Ram. Still no difference

Yup its 100% for fuel efficiency. The more air that can be pushed around instead of under which will induce drag the better. Its a marginal gain like the active grill shutters. Look up the 2009 F-250 diesel. Those valances were nearly 10 inches long.

Any guys here with the sport bumper remove theirs? I had mine removed for a little bit but the bumper felt very unsecure, any one have any insight on this?

People have trimmed them down and reinstalled. Always an option. From what I have read, if the truck has been leveled or lifted, their purpose is already lost. I plan to level mine, so time to get out the cutoff wheel or a red hot knife.

Hey woh cool out there all that isn't needed to get it off. I used a pair of wire strippers that have the crimper on the tips. Took me 5 minutes for the pins and there is 1 bolt on each side of it which i believe was a 13mm socket

Edit: unless you are talking about trimming the plastic piece, if that's what you meant go for it, but taking it completely off looks better IMO
