My friend gave me his running boards when he bought some nicer aftermarket ones. Only he didn't give me the bolts. Does anyone know what size bolts I need to get to put the running boards on a 2016 Laramie Crew Cab?

Got a pic of the boards?

Most boards use the existing captured nuts which require a 1/2" hex head with a 1 - 1/4" overall length and either a 20 or 24 thread pitch.

Then, along with the 1/2" hex head bolts, some use a 3/8" hex head bolt about 1/2" in length to bolt to holes in the lower pinch weld. On this style, there are also captured nuts in the back of the mounting post on the step bar.

Lastly some use the captured nuts plus two new 3/8" diameter holes that you drill into the lower body above the captured nuts. In those holes you use a #14 x 1" self tapping screw.

So which bolts you need depends on which boards you have.

You might also need a rivnut kit if your truck doesn't have the nuts welded in from the factory

I'll get a pic in a little bit. My friend did look under my truck and said that the threads and everything were already there for the running boards. I haven't had a chance to look under the truck due to the weather and not wanting to lay on the wet ground lol

OK. They aren't pretty, I'm still painting them. I took over all pics, top and bottom, and a close up of the brackets

The bigger holes match up to the captured spring nuts in the body.

The two smaller holes with the captured spring nuts in the step bars match up to the holes in the bottom body seam/pinch weld. Those spring nuts will sit flush up against the outside of the pinchweld.

Those should be 3/8" hex head bolt about 1/2" in length to bolt to holes in the lower pinch weld. I don't remember the pitch of the thread but you can slide out the spring nut and take it with you to the hardware store.
