Soooo another rust repair thread... I just bought a 2014 Ram 1500. When I brought it home I noticed some rust bubbles on the drivers side front qurterpanel near the hemi logo.
I popped the hood and noticed that the rusting seemed to be coming from the inside and rusting out. I was happening right along the vibration dampener on the inside of the panel, which seems to be a pretty common thing I guess.
So I brought the truck back to the dealer and told them about the rust. They took pictures and submitted them to Chrysler, who of course would not do anything about it. However, the dealership said they would have it fixed for
me, free of charge.
Anyway, I got the truck back and it seems like all the dealership did was sand down the rust bubbles and re paint. You can still see where the bubbles used to be through the new paint. I don't understand why they did not replace the panel as I told them it was rusting from the inside out and I'm pretty sure what they did will only end up being a temporary fix.
Does anybody here know if they may have done something to prevent or stop future rusting? Or will this be something I'll have to deal with again later?
