Caught a screaming deal on Facebook marketplace. Paid $400 for this magnum off-road bumper. Has some scratches but for the price it was impossible to pass. I plan to refinish it but the question is should I repowdercoat it, linex it or color match it to the truck?

buy some spray on bedliner do-it-yourself stuff and give it a wack. At that price I'd just keep it as cheap as possible and be proud haha. I'm cheap though...

Paint to match would be a killer look the issue would be prep and buff out there are a ton of edges that will just love to burn through

Linex quoted me $300 for the ultra coating which is supposed to be a bit smoother and not hold the road grime. They can also have it color matched for that price. Gotta call a few paint companies to see what they can do. My biggest worry is just how rough linex typically is but then again i've only seen it in beds of trucks.

Color matched!!!!

But look into the powdercoating to see if they have a color match option for that paint code color yet.

Another option is to hit it with a semi smooth bed coating that is paintable then paint over it with a color matched paint.

I will add...the rustoleum DIY liner finishes really smooth compared to line-X, oem bedliner etc...

Just FYI.

Exactly...
That is what I used on my 07. Used a etching primer as a base, then the Rustoleum (I think, may have been Duplic-Color) then Used a Black paint and clear coat to prevent fading and cleaning easier.

So I called magnum direct to ask them about touchup and they told me Sherwin Williams developed their powdercoating to match any satin black rattle can. He recommended masking off the area that needed touch up and hit it with the satin black and it should blend perfect. I may give that a shot and see what I think. My worry with color match or powder coating is it chips or scratches and is harder to blend. I don't use my truck to go rock crawling but I have gone through some thicker scrub brush to get to a deer stand.

Nice find! I vote Line-X. (Not the "do it yourself" bed liner). Get it done professionally.

Well I shot an area on the back of the bumper. The color is spot on but apparently I suck at painting. It orange peeled like crazy.

I say you sell it to me for $500 and I will drive my happy ass over when I get my truck back from the dealer.

Seriously though, when you get it done let me know. This is the exact bumper I want on my ram. And you are local.

My vote is do something close to your steps. So line-x. Some say keep it cheap. I say you can afford to spend some for what you paid lol. If you go the paint route, let me know. I know an amazing local paint guy.
