I have a tradsman model and I want to paint the black upper bumper cover to match my body color, white. Anyone do or see this done before?

I know the bumpers changed in 13. But are any of the guts the same on a 10? Like would a 13 bumper cover go on a 2010 sport?

I replaced my 2010 chrome bumper with a 2016 painted black bumper from ebay. I think it was $276 shipped. Cant beat it for the price. I still havent installed the front bumper absorber. Cant figure out how to get it to mount. Im hoping the 2010 front end isnt different than the 2016. I was able to get the bumper to stay on with just the center support, and bolting the sides to the fenders. When i get around to it im gonna take the bumper back off, and see if i have to take something off that i didnt see in order to get them to go on.
I also bought the metal impact bar, but it wont bolt up either. I paid $31 aftermarket. new from dodge they are $287.
I also bought a dual exhaust rear bumper off of ebay, and had it painted for $250, and bought a used painted 2016 grill for $200 on ebay.
Here is the metal impact bar i bought that wont bolt up. Bolt holes look like they need to be 1-2" longer on both sides to bolt it to the frame. If anyone sees something missing from it, let me know. Im stumped.

Looks a lot better! Now you need to paint the grille to match.
I tried, it flaked off after a little over a week...... just painted it again with flat black plasti dip with a clear coat on top. Maybe it will last a little longer.6ba45a480377adb10b03fa9cd31d65c4.jpg1ff0b1ca625c28a6a32bac5ae2746eaa.jpgfd00bcbaabc40b745a025fb39b653005.jpg528a45a7469a7c924a5efafef7cb28ef.jpg2749c8fb68662ea46437f84c0935a6a7.jpg

Are you painting the grille black or red this time? I think it looks best red.

I'm going to leave it black for now.... I want to order another one and have it painted to match.
If I was to give any advice, it would be to prime it. Idk I matched the color but on top of the chrome, the grill came out a different color red than the rest of the truck. It looked great from a distance but i could tell....I also sanded the **** out of it and put probably around 6 coats or so on it and it flaked off in about a week.

I'm ordering this swap now. The only issue I see is the quantities if certain bolts, nuts, pins, etc.

Attached us what I came up with

I got my bumpers swapped out this weekend, overall it wasn’t too difficult. The worst part was putting the air dam on, it took forever to get all the clips in simultaneously. The damn things kept popping out on me as I worked my way around. I’m thinking it may have been a lot easier if I had installed it before attaching the bumper cover to the truck though. Also, I still ended up with a few parts that I didn’t need. So for future reference, these are the only parts I ended up needing for the swap that I couldn’t reuse from the old bumper……

68197698AA BUMPER COVER W/O PARK SENS or 68239435AA BUMPER COVER W/PARK SENS.
68003844AA AIR DAM PUSH PINS
68196999AB IMPACT BAR
68145441AC ENERGY ABSORBER
68033135AA AIR DEFLECTOR

Thanks again OP for the write up, it was a HUGE help!

Are these pieces not needed and already on trucks with the Chrome bumper? 55277480AD & 55277481AD Side Retainers?
