Stubby/shorty antenna question...

I know this is an old thread, but I just installed a Stubby and well, no joy. Lousy reception here in the DFW area. :(

Just take your stock antenna, remove the ball end by gripping with pliers and working it back and forth, then take a hacksaw and cut the mast down to whatever length you want, then file the end and put the ball back on the new cut end. Then paint it black and put it back on the truck. I did mine this way and my reception is fine here in Houston, I noticed no change. Did mine the day after I brought it home from dealer.

I got the "stubby" antenna. And I have zero wind issues. And it looks great!

Sounds like crap though. Drove me to use the Sirius radio which I thought was a bunch of bull. But I've started to enjoy Sirius now.
