Thinking of switching 20 inch wheels for 17's.

I'm looking at tires and looks like 17 inch tires are cheaper than 20 inch. What size 17's would be about the same as the stock 20's?

Stock. 275/60/20

275/60/20 = = 33"x 10.8"

so you would need a 33" x 10.5" on a 17" rim. Below are some common sizes in your range, but be sure to select the right tire for rim width.

255/80/17 = 33.1"x 10"

285/75/17 = 33.8" x 11.2"

295/70/17 = 33.3" x 11.6"

You should run a 17 for the look not the price, personally I dig the old school cool of a 17 on 35 or bigger. All the kids around here have huge rims with stupid offsets.

A 285/70/17 is within 1% of the stock 20" tire size. It's also used on the RAM Rebel

Not sure how having more sidewall rides like ****. You probably have cheap suspension under your truck. With a smaller wheel you can air down and your rims don't get beat up if you are off road.

that's why i have a set of 17's on my STOCK suspension for off roading.unless you're running e rated 35x17's you will get a ****** ride at highway speed compared to a 20" rim.wtf is cheap suspension??? sounds like you're still on your first truck with stock tires.

Lol. I have lifted truck with aftermarket coilovers and uca's and real mud tires with the appropriate amount of sidewall. But keep running those little rubber bands if it makes you feel better.

I've run 35s on 17" rims, and the ride was just fine. I've got 20" rims now and I'm thinking of doing the same thing as well. I'm tired of the wheels and will go with either 17s or 18s.

I have SLT 17's with 285/70/17 Duratracs (33") on my sport...swapped them out with the 20's when I bought the truck...Tires are the same size as the factory 20's so no speedo adjustment needed...I am a Jeep guy so more rubber was my goal
