Thoughts on Power/MPG loss for 66 pound tires. Only 275/65/20's (34")

So, I'm looking at Falken AT3 275/65/20 Load E. They're a great looking tire, but they're 66 pounds a piece. Most others in this range I'm seeing at 58 pounds...That's going to be 25 pounds heavier than stock per tire.

I'm not too worried about mileage, but I'd rather not feel like i'm driving through sludge with these things on. I have a 2.5 level in front. I have exhaust and a Vararam Air Grabber as mods. I have to have Load E or close. I know I need a 2500. So my questions are:

1. Do you notice a HUGE difference in power with 34" (barely bigger than stock) with that kind of heavy tire?
2. MPG?
3. What alternatives do you recommend? (Has to be 275/65/20 or 285/65/20 with Load E or close to it.)

Tire in question (just a google image, not my truck :D )

Thanks everyone!

I went from stock to Kanati Trail Hogs LT2756520E which measure 34.3 inches. It's a good looking 10 ply with 3 ply sidewalls.

Speedo adjusted with tuner for new size.

These weigh 58.3 lbs each so right in the range you mentioned. Ride quality is very good, low noise at highway speeds. I also have a 2.5" level up front so bumps can be a little stiffer at times. I've been running these at 45psi and may drop that a little.

As far as power, they don't feel sluggish at all compared to stock. I do have the tuner mind you but I already was running a tune prior to install. Hope this helps some. Also have intake and exhaust.

at 66lbs a piece, i would be looking at another tire.

1) power loss is noticeable. i wouldnt consider it horrible, truck still had plenty of power for me, but i guess everyones take on this would be different.
2) i would expect a 1-2 mpg loss. if you go a tad wider, maybe up to 3.
3) bf goodrich ko2, toyo at2, goodyear duratracs, bridgestone dueler at revo

I lost 1 mpg going from 275/60s to 275/65s. I also hold 5th gear at 75 mph going up a 6% grade compared to 6th before the swap.

I'm running Goodyear Duratracs for winter in a 275-65-20 size & they only weigh 57lbs.

They are an awesome tire.

I made the switch from stock to 275/65 toyo at2, 62 or 63lbs each.

-lost 1-2mpg
-lost some off the line power but not enough to justify going back to 4 ply 33s
-I still get into 8th gear plenty but when towing anything, it stays in 7th on the highway

ALSO, get a tune. You will have more power with the 34s tuned, than you would with the 33s untuned.

I'm going to be towing quite a bit, that's the reason for going to 10 ply, when you say you don't get into 8th--is that a huge problem?

I Mena as far as wear and tear on the truck, or overall loud ass drone on the highway?

Thanks!

Thanks for all of your quick replies. I'm currently "weighing" my options (aheh...heh. I'll be here all week) and I've almost came to me decision.

I lost over 3mpg when I put the Kanati Mud Hogs on in November...Stayed with the stock size 275-70-18...Winter blend fuel compounded by the additional tire weight will drop your mpg like a rock...The 3.73 gear sucks bad, and you really notice it with the tire swap...It's a nice tire...$765.00 (4) delivered to my front door on e-bay
