Hello folks. First time RAM 1500 owner (Big Horn 4x2) and got a question about tire chains. The truck came with 275/60-20 tires, but the owners manual only says use Class S chains for a smaller tire like 265/55-17. Seems kinda strange that RAM doesn't mention possible chains for the larger and wider tires that came with my truck. Been looking around several chain websites and have found a few who claim to be Class S and also fit my exact tire size. I'm used to putting on cable chains for another car. I think the issue is clearance with brake lines behind the RAM rear wheels.

So is it safe to put on chains that are advertised as Class S and fit my tire size? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!

I’d use the cables instead of chains. Not sure about the class s for cables.

I am with kooler. I'd run cables. In my opinion, there isn't enough clearance with the 20" tires on a 1500 for proper, good chains.

I bought a set designed for my slightly larger-than-stock tires, but these are the equivalent for your tire size:

They also make these, which appear to be a little more durable but a little harder to put on:
