Just got a new 2017 1500 SLT 4x4. Planning to level it with bilstein 5100s and then want to upgrade wheels and tires. I want something close to stock size bc I don't want to affect fuel economy too much. I drive 80 miles to work every day.

My stock set up is 265 70 R17. What can I get in a 20 inch rim that will be close to that?

Can't help with the question, but congrats on the new truck. Looks great. Want to do the same to mine, but I do want a little larger tire.

Anyway, good luck!

if fuel mileage is a concern are you sure you want to level the truck?

your stock tires are about 31.5" tall. they are going to look small with a level, especially with a 20" wheel. hell, the stock 33's that come on the 20" wheel look a bit small with a level.

I wasn't aware that leveling the truck affected the fuel economy?

it does. its not a huge loss but it does make a difference. your altering the aerodynamics and creating more drag under the truck. id expect a 1 mpg loss.

You'd be better off upgrading to the factory 20 (275/60/20) and leveling the truck with lowering springs in the rear to bring it down level with the front. Might actually improve your fuel mileage.

Yup. Get a 20x9 wheel, which happens to be the factory size, and 275/60/20. Very popular tire size. Popular tire sizes means good bang for the buck.

I love the stock 20" wheels on my sport, plus I like the slight rake on it.

Yep, if I was in your shoes I would do a reverse level (bring the rear down) and get some 20x9 wheels with a decent lip and some street tires like the Toyo PROXES S/T II.

I am going for a little more of an off-road look but wanting to preserve fuel economy as best as I can. Thinking I'm going to level it with bilstein 5100s and then add some 18x9s on some 275 65 R18s. I want a tire that has an aggressive looking sidewall but is quiet on the highway. Does such a tire exist?

I have run the cooper at3, Mastercraft courser AXT, Nitto G2, and am having a set of Falken Wildpeak at3w installed today.

The coopers seemed louder than the factory tires after they were rotated a couple of times but nothing outrageous. I got over 50k out of them rotating @ 5,000 miles.

I had 35k on the Nitto when I traded that truck and they didn't seem any louder than the factory tire.

Interested to see how the Falken performs, but the reviews I've read have all been positive.

I like the falkens also. They seem like a good value. Let me know how you like them

First impressions...

Wow - they are a lot more aggressive looking than I thought they would be. Definitely more aggressive than the Cooper or Nitto (imo).

And...wow...they are louder than the factory tires (I expected some noise). Not loud enough that you can't have a conversation, but they seem louder than I remember the Nitto being. 9a85f222639b6a5116fd70ca5fc98b3f.jpg
