Ok after a ton of searching here I am! Ive googled till my eyes exploded and creaped on everyones pages. To no avail I still have questions! I am installing a 2.5 HBS leveling kit on my ‘12 and want to run a bigger tire. I kind of want to just keep my stock "20 for now. But can I run 35x12.50? Is anyone doing this without issues? Or should I just run a 33x12.50?? Any help would be greatly appreciate...

You can but you'll need wheel spacers up front. I think a lot of people are running 295/50/20

Thats what I was thinking, in the trail grapplers..but the 33x12.50 nitto mud grapplers have my attention and the 275/65/20 Duratracs...just dont know what would be the best fit.

I run 35x12.5 with 2.5 level, but i have new wheels, you could run 35's with just a spacer

moved this to exterior since it is about wheels.

as said you would need wheels spacers to run those on stock wheels

Ok so im getting some spacers from a member on here, just the front two and I think they are a 1/4 inch..would that be enough to clear 35's?

its not the height that is the issue, its the width. Yes i believe you will be good with the 1/4" spacers.

the 2.5" level kit is what will allow you to fit 35's

Ok thanks for that, cause I assume the spacers is just a set for the fronts. I just want 35's so maybe I should get new wheels for a more narrow wheel?? A lift is in the near future so I figured Id go ahead and get 35's.

if you get new wheels you can easily run a 12.5" wide tire because you can get a wheel with less backspacing which moves the tire away from the upper control arm

Oh ok..well kind of a new guy question, but how will I know if they have less backspacing? Is that the offset?

no problem ask as many questions as you need. Offset and backspacing are two different measurements, but directly related....offset is a measurement from the center line of the wheel to the mounting face. Backspacing is a measurement from the back edge of the wheel to the mounting face. A positive offset moves the mounting face toward the front of the wheel, and a negative offset moves the mounting face toward the back off the wheel. More positve offset = more backspacing, and the more negative offset = less backspacing.

Personally i think a ideal wheel would be 20x9 with 0 offset. Some lifts require a minimum amount of backspacing so since you plan to lift in the future i would see what the lift manufacture recommends for backspacing before you buy wheels.

I just learned something new, thanks never knew all that. Ok good because I am looking at 20x9 MB TKO wheels from discount tire w/ a 35x12.50 Nitto Trail Grappler. But I thought if I got spacers I could just run my stockies for now w/ a "35 tire. Unless I could sell my stock wheels and tires to someone.

yea, with the 1/4" spacers you will most likely be good. How long till you buy new wheels? I would consider the cost to have those 35's mounted and balanced twice.

Thats what im tossing back and forth...and leaning towards just doing it all at once...or just keeping it simple/ less expensive and just doing some 275/65 Duratracs. To many choices haha

I just have a hell bent steel 2" level kit, 20x10 rockstars with 4.5" backspacing and 33x12.5x20 toyo mt's

Love the look. I want to do the hbs 2inch. Was also thinking 1.25 body lift. But I'm not sure if it's over kill.

Thanks, no way is a 1.25" body lift overkill. Look at 0212353's truck he has same level along with said body lift and 34.5" tires
