I am on the fence on what to get so maybe the community could help sway me in one way or the other. Some background first.

I have pretty much owned SUVs since I have been driving (16 years now), but have always wanted a truck since I grew up with trucks. Currently have a 2015 QC 1500, with three carseats in the back. I should have gone with a Crew Cab, but couldn't find one in my budget with the features I was wanting. I miss the covered space of my former SUVs but am enjoying the open bed of the truck. Would like something that isn't going to leak, so we could travel more with the truck instead of the my wife's minivan.

Wife is planning on buying me a toolbox for Father's Day since thats what I initially wanted, but now I'm unsure. I treat my truck like an SUV 90% of the time, and then occasionally need to haul something in the bed.

If you had $300.00 to spend, what would you get and why? What do you currently have on your truck, and are you happy with it?

I have the truxedo truxport.. paid 240 for it... rolls up close to window when you need to use the bed.. you can always get a storage box underneath or just a plastic tub to put things in.

Had both, like the tool box better, lockable, less hassle and you'll need to spend a lot more then 300 for a tonneau cover that won't **** you off..

A low profile tool box fits below the rails not on the bed rails
so you can use a Tonneau as well .

Although almost impossible on your budget, it sounds like your a prime candidate for a Bed Cap..

There's a brand of tonneau cover that works with a toolbox. Forget which one.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I believe I am going to go with the Truxedo Truxport soft roll up cover. It seems to get good reviews and easy enough to install and still gives me the whole length of the bed. I'll eventually get some swing out tool boxes that go behind the wheel arches, but I feel like the cover will be good enough for now.

it was a lot more than $300 but my Diamondback HD cover wth 8" cross box gives me the best of both tonneau and tool box.

aren't Bakflips hard shell but flips up so you can use the bed? but probably way out of the price range OP wanted.
