I mentioned this in another thread but I figured I'll start a new thread to document this. I noticed a decent size puddle under my truck at work. I figured it wasn't mine but got under and took a look. Looks like I have fairly significient leak coming from the rear of the transmission pan. The below taken from the drivers said and you can see the driveshaft for reference. If you look closely you can see a large drop coming from the rear drivers side although it appears to be leaking out of about 80% of the pan.

I drop it off at the dealer Thursday night so I guess I'll be putting about 50-70 miles on it with this leak. There's already fluid splattered all over the cross member and heat shielding above it. It would be nice if they clean that up as well.

I'm actually guessing this is the transfer case as it looks like oil. Isn't trans fluid red? Oh well I'll send an update with the dealer findings and how long it sets me without a truck.

I just had a warranty repair done on my 14 last week.
I had noticed “oil” sprayed all over the underside of the truck near the rear of the transmission and transfer case. Once the dealer got under there they found a bad rear seal from the transfer case and the rear driveshaft. Replaced seal and topped off transfer case fluid under warranty. While they were under there they also noticed transmission fluid leaking from around the “transmission pressure sensor”. They also replaced that under warranty.

Sounds about right to me. I drop it off tomorrow night so I should know more.

You are asking a lot of a dealer there....

Verdict was cracked transmission pan. Replace and topped fluids.

I'm not entirely convinced it's not leaking still but I'll keep testing. The dealer had it done quickly in one day.

I ran over a plastic bag on the interstate. It wrapped around the back of the drive line and took out the pinion seal on the rear end. Puked stinky fluid everywhere. A plastic bag brought my mighty 1500 to it's knees.

It's still leaking so I'm trying to get through to bring it back. I've been monitoring it by wiping it down then checking again and it's clearly leaking with big drops coming off after a 10 mile drive. What's fun is I can't really use my heat in stop and go traffic as it's leaking all over the exhaust pipe and all the fumes are coming into the cabin. Smells awesome in my brand new truck! Underneath there is fluid caked all over the place. It's splattered all over the heat shielding, the frame, all the bits and pieces anywhere near the rear of the transmission. Pretty much looks like any 20 year old truck under there now.

Finally got through the dealer (they just seem way too busy to keep up with the volume of people in Colorado now ). I drop it off again Thursday night.

Dealer fixed in on Friday. Replaced leaking drivers side transmission gasket, topped fluids.

It doesn't appear to be leaking any more as of yet so that's good news!

I'm 95% sure it's still leaking. When I got it back the 2nd time I got under it with a rag and wiped it down. I noticed a drip coming off the same spot so I wiped it all down a 2nd time. Again another drip resting on the bottom. So I took it to the do-it-yourself car wash and blasted it with soapy water so it looks brand new again. So I'll be able to easily tell by the end of today if it's still leaking.

Engine degrease that thing and get it nice and clean. Then you can be sure it is leaking for sure and where at.

I got it cleaned off very well.

My issue is I purchased the vehicle on 12/27. I'm not trying to make this a deal but 4x to the dealer for the same issue I have a lemon law argument. So I'll be monitoring this closely to take it in when it's leaking and I want to catch all these leaks before my grace is up.

I hear you quick. When I bought my truck last year the salesmen and I were sitting in the vehicle checking things out and getting ready for my 4th test drive. Then bam outta nowhere a lady backs into my truck and drives away. We get out to look at the damage to find out her bumper hit just the rubber on the rear passenger tire and nothing else. I said well it looks like this truck has been in an accident now, how much off the price? :happy107:

It's still leaking unfortunately. I had it spotless yesterday and today there's a pool of oil on the driver side rear pan bolt. Just like it was previously although it doesn't look like it's as severe, it's definitely leaking.

So I need to talk to the manager and see what they can do about replacing it. Looking at the size of the matching oil spots at my work and in my driveway it makes me wonder how long this has been leaking? How long has it been running on low fluid?

Just got back from about 80 miles of traveling for family stuff.

Oil everywhere. It drips on the exhaust and makes a toxic smell in the cabin.

Hopefully these can run low on fluid lol. I feel "very confident" about how long this will last being ripped apart god only knows how many times and ran for god only knows on low fluid LMAO! 44k truck!

Here are some pictures from it sitting a couple days. It would be really nice if ANYONE at the dealership would answer their phones. This is 3 weeks where it takes me at least 20 minutes to get through to anyone. I have an appointment for Thursday but almost completely forgot about my GF's birthday camping trip on Friday so I need to reschedule or get a loaner or something. Funny I do get daily calls from the sales department trying to sell me a new Wrangler I inquired about but I'd be damned if I can speak to anyone in any other department.
