Picked up a can of VHT Nightshades earlier. I thought that I would take some before and after photos so anyone who was considering doing this but was unsure, could see the outcome. Here ya go....

*** Please ignore how dirty my truck is. Its been really cold and the roads are still covered in rock salt. I know that my truck needs to be cleaned! ***

Hopefully this will help out anyone who was thinking about doing this to their taillights but wasn't sure how it would look. Remember, I only did 2 coats. One light coat and then one medium-to-heavy coat. Anymore and it will be darker than mine are.

P.S. Yes I know I need to do my 3rd brake light to match. I forgot about it until I put these back on and then saw it lol. I guess ill get to that one tomorrow as it's dark outside now.

They look good. I have done a few sets myself, but I always throw 2-3 coats of clear after the VHT.
Wet sand and buff them out, last forever.

Can I say don't clear them then if you ever change your mind it's not so easy to remove that nightshade will last forever as is and if you get guff by the cops or want to just change it up carb cleaner will strip it off right away just my 2 cents

What did you use to tape it off? I've shied away from this because I didn't want them to be dim in daylight and get me rear ended, but now that I see yours I'm thinking of trying some vertical stripes. Maybe even some thin chevrons or half chevrons.

Is this stuff forgiving to work with?

Edit: scratch that, I'm thinking horizontal instead of vertical now...

Never a fan of tinted tails, people have a hard enough time seeing and understanding brake lights as it is, they don't need a harder time.

My third brake light was tinted with VHT but my tail lights were done with smoke vinyl film. I love the look and upgraded to bright brake lights so that they can be seen through the tint.

I just put painters tape on it, held a flashlight in the light bulb opening, then traced the round circle the light made through the tape and cut the excess tape off. Then sprayed the night shades on it.

I agree with some of the other posters. A little tint looks good, but I'd be afraid to go that dark with cops. Just another reason for them to pull you over.

You can tint lights with plastidip with either black or smoke and gloss. If you're patient with it, it will come out pretty decent. I haven't got around to doing mine yet.

So yesterday i got around to doing my 3rd brake light in VHT to match the tails. Came out pretty good.

I have a bunch of led's on order for my brakes, reverse and cargo lights. Should make them just as bright or brighter than when they weren't tinted.

They were damaging my paint hard... I took them off until i can figure out why and how to fix it.

They left huge lines around my whole fender, deep gouges. I dont understand because the only piece making contact was the 3m tape.
