Also did mine, did 2 coats only. But I taped off the reverse section and cargo light area on the first coat then did one final coat over the whole thing, I was happy with how it looked, I wasn't trying to black them out just take the edge of the bright red brake light lens color, but it too has faded since I didn't clear it...
Next time I get around doing it I will maybe go a tad darker but I won't use NightShade, I didn't like how it laid down, so instead I will just tint some clear and use that, will get the same effect with no fade and if I mix it right and not to dark I can control the tint better with the built up layers.
I was also thinking of using a mat or semi-gloss clear but not 100% sure on that yet
