What is a long vs short bed?

I have a RAM 1500 Laramie Quad, but most people just ask if it has a long bed or a short bed. I don't understand what they are asking me. It's not as short at the crew cab, but not as long as the regular cab. Are there not three+ options for other manufacturers?

Long bed to me is always 8'. Yours is a short bed at 6.5', but not as short as the crew cab short bed, which is 5' or something like that. I know GM has 3 different bed lengths too, not sure about Ford's, I avoid them like the plague.

Being that you have a 1500 Quad Cab, you have a standard short bed. IE 6.5'
The 1500 Crew Cabs have a 5.5' Bed.

The Long bed is 8' and is not offered in 1500s other than a Reg Cab (I believe)

I agree with the two above, anything less than 8' is a short bed by my standards.

RC has a 6'4" bed
QC has a 6'4" bed
CC has a 5'7" bed

Wish that had been available prior to 2013. Totally would have gotten a CC 6'4" bed, then it would almost feel like a real truck lol.

You are probably right.

Long bed/Full size = 8 ft

Short bed = less than 8 ft

There are **** loads of available configurations lol.

^But would never fit in a standard garage... Mine fits with 17" in the front to get into the house via our passage door, and 2" in the back.
(let's not get into what a "standard" garage is LOL)
