Hi I have a 2013 dodge ram 1500 SLT 4x4 5.7L (stock no lifts added), i'm wondering what size tires I can fit on my truck with out any lift... 285/70/17? is that the max? does the 285 mean 32s? or 33s? and the 70 is the width? whats the max I can go in those categories?

id like a wide tire and a little bit bigger...im pretty sure I got 265s on atm.

THANKYOU!

You should be able to fit a 285/70 in there just fine.

And yes, it's about 33 inches in diameter.

About how the sizing works, the 285 is the width of the tire in millimeters, 70 is the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the width (so the sidewall height is 285*0.7) and the 17 is the rim size in inches. With that information you're able to work out the overall diameter in inches. There's a ton of calculators online that will do that for you.

yeah I understand that, I want 32s on my truck but I just want the tire? I don't know? wider than what I currently have, I feel like its a thin tire If that makes sense? I want it to be ''FAT''. I just don't know the max dimension I can fit on my stock truck, from all I know I can fit the 32s for clearance, I just want to know how fat of a tire I fit.

the 285's measure pretty much 11.25" wide and a 70R17 will get you just under 33's, they look fat on a stock truck

this is 285/60R20 on stock rims, same width obviously but about 3/4" taller as a reference

Can't tell you if that will clear from experience, but my Sport has factory 275x60R20 on it. That comes out to 33x10.83.
