I was literally going to ask this exact same question. I just ordered wheels and tires and didn’t even think about a 5th tire for the spare. Is the spare the same size as the oem wheels and does a 35” tire on the spare fit fit under the truck?

I saw a guy on Facebook who claims he put a 35x12.5 under there. Asking him how he did it.

Buy 5 tires the same size. Buy a 5th rim and you can then rotate your tires "old school". A set of tires also now lasts 25% longer.

If i could find a cheap spare tire to fit the spare rim i would probably go that route. Spending another $500 on a 5th rim and tire is bot the route i want to go

If 4 matching rims & tires and ugly spare is ok then 5th tire circumference must match the others. You can vary rim diameter and tire profiles as long as tire circumference is the same (same # of revolutions per mile). Most important with 4WD. TireRack.com has a calculator that will help you.

The spare is a 17" rim right?

That must be determined by you. I don't know what you have, who owned it last or what they might have put under there. You should drop the spare and look at the rim. Size should be stamped into it. If not, it's easily measured.

You can use your stock spare tire to get where you need to go

It was tight but I fit a 35-12.5-18 under my 2013 tradesman long bed. The tire was a little worn but it fit, and I definitely had to take my time squeezing it in there.

I always carry a plug kit and 12v air compressor but just worried about a complete blow out. Will running the stock spare on the front in 2wd hurt anything?

I've had a brand new 35x12.5r17 MT as a spare for a couple of years and no issues. Still in there tight. I just had to jam it in past the tow package, but ultimately it fits great and lays in there level.
