Looking at buying some new wheels to install on my 2016 ram 1500. Like the aggressive offset look but not way out there. Looking into something like a -12 offset. What have you guys been seeing long term with running this offset and having **** thrown up on the body? Rock chips , scratches ,anything?

You could get a -24 with some fender flares and be pretty much flush with the flares.

-24 sits pretty far out there , and fender flairs to me don't look the best. If anything some oem painted to match if need be.

If I had 20x12 -44 with bushwacker fenders, will the fenders protect the truck any?

I know the tires will stick out past the fenders but I wonder if the 1-2 inches it sticks out past the fenders would get rocks/mud thrown up on the sides just going straight down a road.

20x9 with -12 offset would stick out some but not drastic, then if you added oem fender flares it would cover them nicely.

I have 20x10 with -12 offset and they stick out past the oem flares

So 20x9 -12 is tucked and how far passed the oe flares are the 20x10 -12?

a 20x9 would not be tucked, probably more flush with oem fender flares. Here is how far my 20x10's stick out with 295 tires

My .02....

I'm coming up on 2 years now since I installed these...There are no scratch marks/chips showing due to the offset. Now, I will say loose gravel roads or going fast offroad and they will throw **** no doubt. It is then when I take a little more caution obviously. But normal day street use, I never worry about it.

Any wheel bearing or ball joint issues with aggressive offset?

I wouldn't be so worried about it daily driving since there is hardly any debris in the road. Mainly off-roading. I don't off-road that often, occasionally I'll take the dirt road short cut to my house. Which would probably change.

My biggest hassle going with the 20x12-44 would be keeping it clean all the time.

Ah yes....forgot that part.....your truck will get extremely dirty if you drive through the slightest water, mud, pretty much anything wet like crap on the road. It will be slung up and down the sides real quick. That's the other downside to such an aggressive offset. I don't even think bushwackers would cover my wheels completely.

20x10 with 33x12.50 before flares

With flares

I do not have any mud flap/ splash guard and my truck gets filthy on wet roads. A lot of dirt lays on my running boards

what's the point of neg offset if you cover it up with flares? am i missing something??? flares are ugly and ruin the aggressive stance.

That's a matter of personal preference

You still get the wide look without as much stuff flung up. But as stated it's all on opinion.
On another not does anyone have mud flaps and the oem flares? I'm looking at getting flaps since I live off a dirt road but when I lift and get tires might end up getting flares as well and some don't look like they will fit
